Krups Rice Cookers
There are not too many different Krups Rice Cooker models available, only two that I know of in fact, the FDH 212, a 10 cup cooker and the FDH112, an 8 cup model. If you are looking for anything bigger or smaller in capacity, you will have to consider another brand.
Luckily enough for me personally, the 10 cup Krups rice cooker is the ideal size for our family of four and has the other features which I consider essential in any automatic rice cooker, namely a non stick pan for easy cleaning, a steamer basket for versatility and a locking lid to keep rice fresher, longer.
In addition to the above features, which are pretty basic and can be found on the automatic rice cookers from most manufacturers, the FDH 212 Krups rice cooker has a couple of extra features that sets it apart.
Extra Krups Rice Cooker Features
First off the Krups rice cooker has 3 different cooking modes, one for rice naturally, one for steaming and one for slow cooking. And secondly the Krups rice cooker feature an electronic control panel with an automatic timer.
These two extra features make the Krups rice cooker a much more versatile tool in the kitchen than most other cooker/steamers. In the slow cooker mode, which can be set to cook for up to 9 hours with the timer, you have an appliance for all your crock pot recipes. And in steamer mode with the addition of the timer, there is much more control over the steaming function.
Most rice cooker come with steaming baskets and can be used as steamers but you have to turn them off manually after the appropriate amount of time otherwise they will steam away merrily till all the water has evaporated from the pot, at which point they will switch over to their warm setting. With the FDH 212 Krups rice cooker the steam time can be accurately set with the timer to what the recipe calls for, so you will never end up with over steamed food.
