Rival Rice Cookers
There are not too many options available to you if you are buying a Rival Rice Cooker. If you are buying the brand and not searching for specific features your choice is limited to four Rival rice cooker models
- the 8 cup 4350
- the 10 cup RC 100
- the 16 cup RC160 and
- the 20 cup RCS 200
The 4350, RC100 and RC 160 are typical automatic rice cookers more or less identical to the offerings of numerous other manufacturers. In addition to the normal features found on rice cookers in this class - auto warm function, glass lids, steamer trays they do have non stick pans, an essential feature, in my opinion, not found in all rice cookers.
While none of the Rival rice cookers feature all of the features I personally look for in a rice cooker, i.e. 10 cup size for our family of four, non stick pan for easy cleaning, steamer tray for versatility and an air tight locking lid to keep the rice fresher longer, if I had to opt for one of the cookers it would be the RCS 200 model.
It does have a non stick pan and a steaming tray. It's a little too big at 20 cups size, but of course you don't have to cook 20 cups, and 6 or 7 cups, which we normally cook, will turn out just fine. It has a glass lid where we prefer locking lids. What differentiates the RCS 200 from other Rival rice cookers and other cookers in general is its brushed stainless steel exterior.
In my book, stainless steel will always win out over plastic and white painted metals for style and cleanliness. Now, if Rival just did this model in a 10 cup size with a locking lid.
