One of the most well known Aroma rice cookers is the YR 180 used and endorsed by Martin Yan of "Yan can cook" fame. This is a 10 cup model featuring a non-stick cooking pot, cool touch body, locking sealed lid which creates ideal pressure for perfect rice and condensation collector. It cooks a variety of white rice, brown rice and wild rice, steams fish, meat, poultry and vegetables and can be used to make stews and homemade soups.
Other popular models in the Aroma rice cooker line up include the 3 cup ARC 703G. This is a basic, no frills model just featuring the bare necessities of auto cook and warm, rice paddle, measuring cup and a steamer tray. The big attraction is the price, $15 to $20 depending where you look.
More information about the Aroma rice cooker range is available on their web site though it has to be said it's not the most informative in the world with a lot of basic information about their products missing. Once you have the model numbers from the Aroma site use them in a search engine or shopping site for fuller details and reviews.
Rice Cooker tips
Rice cup size is a measure of raw uncooked rice. Aroma rice cookers, in common with all rice cooker brands use the rice cup measure to indicate the capacity of their cookers. It is a measure unique to rice and sometimes causes confusion in the kitchen as it is only about 3/4 of the size of a regular 8oz cup measure. While cooking the rice will absorb water and expand to 2 or 3 times its original volume. So a 3 cup Aroma rice cooker will make at least 6 cups of perfectly cooked rice.
