The Sanyo Rice Cooker range
The Sanyo Rice Cooker range covers the whole spectrum from bare bones basic all the way through to the most advanced Fuzzy Logic controlled cookers available on the market today. With such an array of Sanyo rice cookers to choose from, it's handy to have some method of reducing the number of cookers that you have to consider to a manageable size.
There are many ways of doing this but the easiest and most practical is probably by cup size. The Sanyo rice cooker range we can divide into three groups, 3 cup, 5 cup and 10 cup rice cookers.
3 Cup Sanyo Rice Cookers
- EC 503- non stick pan, steamer tray, glass lid.
- ECJ 5104- non stick pan, steamer tray, locking lid.
- ECJ B35M- Fuzzy Logic controlled, multi menu
- ECJ B35S- Fuzzy Logic controlled, multi menu
5 Cup Sanyo Rice Cookers
- EC 505- non stick pan, steamer tray, glass lid.
- ECJ 5105- non stick pan, steamer tray, locking lid.
- ECJ B55S- Fuzzy Logic controlled, multi menu
10 Cup Sanyo Rice Cookers
- EC 310- the most basic Sanyo model in the range
- EC 510- non stick pan, steamer tray, glass lid.
- ECJ 5104- non stick pan, steamer tray, locking lid.
- ECJ D100S- Fuzzy Logic controlled, multi menu.
Which group you consider will depend on how much rice you need to cook at a time. Personally, I am usually cooking for at least four, and I will always cook more rice than we need as I know it will keep fresh in the right cooker for at least 12 hours if not more. So, I will normally opt for the 10 cup size. Plus its nice to have the extra room in the pot if you are steaming vegetables, chicken or fish.
Of the four Sanyo rice cookers left to choose between, I would personally eliminate the EC 310 because it does not have a non stick pan. While the EC 510 is closer to what I am looking for it also gets the chop because it does not have an air tight locking lid, which I prefer because it keeps rice left in the pot fresher, longer.
The ECJ D100S is a fantastic machine. Fuzzy logic controlled with multi menu settings, you can cook just about any type of rice you care to think of or use the slow cook setting for soup and stews. The clock and the timer means you can program it so food is ready at any hour of the day or night. And it has all the extras, titanium coated non-stick pot, steaming basket, reheat function, locking lid and retractable cord. The trouble is, it's too good for my needs, which 90% of the time is plain old white rice, a few steamed vegetables and now and again some chicken or fish.
The Sanyo ECJ 5104 would be my pick. 10 cup capacity, non-stick pan, steamer tray, locking lid. Perfect.
